POV Scramble Up to Sandstone Peak in 4K!

In Part II of our hike through the Santa Monica Mountains via the Mishe Mokwa Trail, we take a scenic detour to Inspiration Point and an easy Class II scramble up to Sandstone Peak to enjoy its majestic, healing views.   • Recommended Gear: Hiking shoes, at least 1.5L water/3.0L on a hot day, light jacket for the summit


  • Breathtaking views from the summits
  • Trail is 98% exposed—bring lots of water on a hot day, and turn back if it’s too hot
  • Post-fire landscape is still beautiful
  • Two easy scrambles to the peaks
  • Many junctions, including a false trail leading to a sheer drop-off at mile 1.5 going counterclockwise
  • Keep your eyes open for signs and red-fabric blazes
  • There are many ways up and down the peaks—if it feels to steep, look for another path
